P1 have had a lot of fun experimenting with making different types of transport and looking at various ways of travelling, related to our topic "Off we go!"
They made cars, boats and trains using different building sets and some junk materials. They looked at different ways of joining parts together and then tested their vehicles to see if they worked.
They used tin foil in very inventive ways - trying to make a bridge that would hold a toy car to cross over a road. They also made a boat out of tin foil - their boat had to carry 1p coins without sinking. They found out that the larger the surface area of the base of their boat, the more coins it would hold without sinking. Some managed to get 15 coins onboard!
